Laundry Alien Sketch

Ever since I did this sketch it has made me laugh. The idea of this little rancorish alien doing chores, just tickles my funny bone. It is one of the very few drawings to be turned into a painting directly from my Samurai Sketch sessions.

The painting is only a fast rendition but because it was based on this sketch I like it.  Really I don’t have terribly much to say about this image.

However the image brought many ideas to mind. I started having visions of all the famous monsters from media, doing chores, or eating dinner, being in church etc. Obviously the environment would have to be matched to the monster. Like a modern interpretation of the Munsters in image form.

One of those ideas is being done as a tutorial, with each step of the process, from sketch to finished work documented.  I am actually very excited about documenting my process, as I hope it will be enlightening for others, and will help me to streamline it.

So all in all this sketch was a huge success because it spawned a whole slew of new ideas. Being that the sketch sessions are not meant to actually produce anything, but are just an exercise to flex and strengthen creative muscles. It is purely a bonus that anything more came from this sketch.
